Why this exists
So I built the guide I wanted: organized around the job you actually need the watch to do, not the brand or the biggest payout.
I spent 22 years in tech: product, operations, leadership, the last seven as a CEO. That mostly just means I've taken apart marketing claims for a living. I know fog when I see it, and this category runs on it.
I'm also making these calls for my own household, same as you. That's the actual reason I care about getting it right.
How I evaluate
I dig into each watch the way a parent shops, not the way a lab does: official specs and support docs, the plan and contract fine print, and what real owners report. Then I translate it into the tradeoffs your family will actually feel day to day.
When I've spent real time with one myself, I'll tell you; when I haven't, I won't pretend I have.
What I won't do
No paid placements. No "best 15 watches" padding. Rankings are set by family fit before I ever look at what pays, and payout never reorders them.
Some links earn a commission at no cost to you; it's disclosed on every page, and it doesn't move the recommendations.
